Object Description
Banded blanket with Moqui stripes. Handspun z-spun dark brown, white, gray blue, gray, red, and carrot wool and s-spun cottom warp. The dark brown, white and gray wool are natural colors. The gray-blue was aniline-dyed, and the red and carrot are most likely vegetal dyes. Five broad horizontal bands of alternating dark brown and blueish-gray yarn (called a moki stripe) are separated from each other by a toal of five red bands that consist of three red horizontal units separated from each other by diagonal parallelograms in gray, white and carrot. The very center of the rug has red and black "railroad track". Brown and white alternating warps as border trim on top and bottom.
