Descriptions
Object Description Saddle blanket or rug, self-patterned plain weave. Overall pattern of narrow bands of brown and white vertically stacked stitches separated by white lines, the stacks of stitches off-set at white lines to create pattern. Border bands at top and bottom of a band of gray-tan, an outer band of black, and final red selvage cord. Warp: white cotton; Wefts white, brown, gray-tan and black natural and commercial wool, aniline dyed. Selvages: 4-ply purple and 4-ply gray-tan cords added in at sides, 3-ply red cords added in top and bottom. [see extended description in Text Entries Object Description]
