Object Description
Optical illusion design rug. Alternating rows of seven cubes and rows of six cubes with a half cube at each side. The cubes consist of a white diamond shaped top and yellow and black lozenges at sides, slmost filling the white field. Border: a narrow black band top and bottom of pattern, a narrow band consisting of white and yellow lozenges, and an outer black band around all edges, narrow at sides and broader at top and bottom, with wefts over two warps for outer part at one end; there is a final outer band of gold at each end, also with wefts over two warps. Fringe of gold yarn added each end, in a tied, cross over and tied pattern.
