Display Title Warp-float belt: red and white butterfly motif

Object Description Warp-float belt, in a bulkier than usual weave, in red, green, and white. This belt is in what Kate Peck Kent calls the Navajo style, using white weft cords of commercial cotton, 4-ply s-spun z-twist. The warp cords are in red and green 4-ply commercial aniline dyed wool yarn, tightly spun, and white cotton cord, 4-ply s-spun z-twist. Most of belt is warp-faced plain weave, in stripes (from outer moving inward to central design stripe) white, red, green, red. In the center runs a stripe of warp-floated pattern in red and white, a repeating design of butterfly patterns on one side, and weft-wise stripes on the other side. There are 132 warp elements, about 15 per cm of width.
