Display Title Finger-woven sash/belt, chevron pattern in red, green, and yellow
Descriptions
Object Description Finger-woven sash/belt of central panel in double chevron pattern and side strips with a curved wave design outlined in beading. The center is 10.5 cm wide, red, green, and yellow aniline dyed commercial z-spun s-twist acrylic yarns obliquely interlaced to make a double-chevron pattern, yellow portions of the design a little wider than the red and green. The side strips are sewn on after the interlacing is completed, in a blue yarn slightly darker and finer than that used in the body of the piece. The sides are also finger-woven, in a bright royal blue commercial z-spun s-twisted yarn, 3.7 cm wide at each side of the sash. Zig-zagging the length of the blue strips is a red element, twined over the blue base elements as the strips were being made.
