Object Description
Wedge weave, or pulled warp, rug. Red background zigzags separated by white zigzags outlined in black and by white zigzags with black center line; scalloped side edges caused by the weaving technique. Borders: narrow black band, then a white stripe, then a red stripe at each end. Lazy lines. Warp: white natural handspun wool; wefts: white natural handspun wool, black natural handspun wool, augmented, and red natural handspun wool aniline dyed. Selvages: 2-ply black cords added in at sides, 3 ply red cords added in top and bottom; no tassels remain. Warp direction 147.5 x weft direction 109.5 x depth .5 cm.
