Object Description
Headdress with appearance of Peul/Fulani woman.
The object is a dyed fiber headcover with a crest. The cap is made of bundles on 'z' twisted black fibers and constructed in an open work figure-of-eight looping. It is decorated with 'z' twisted knotted strands that hang at the sides of the cap and a crest made of brown plant fibers. The crest is framed with yellow beads, topped with small white beads that are linked together with a red thread and cowrie shells. Two decoarated cloth panels hang from the rim the cap; one contains eyeholes so as to be fitted over the face.
