Object Description
Tapestry-woven burden strap, possibly saddle girth, in red, yellow, orange, blue and green s-spun wool. Body is red with alternating groups of yellow and blue diamonds. Selvages have been finished with green yarn. At each end one horizontal blue band above one horizontal yellow band. Iron rings attached to each end, bound on by orange and red warp threads.Length: 84 cm; Width: 10.2 cm; Depth: .6 cm. Thread count: warp -- 6 ends/cm; Weft -- 12 ends/cm. Very good condition. Some fraying in spots, especially in blue sections. Blue band at either end is severly worn away.
