Object Description White wool manta (maiden shawl) with red and blue borders. Made of black, white and red commercially porcessed aniline-dyed, s-spun wool. Very typical Maiden shawl with broad white horizontal band in center with black border on both ends separated from white interior by broad red horizontal band with two thin white lines in each red panel. The ends have been roilled and machine stitched with hemming tape, side selvages are left as woven over thicker edge cord. Length: 96.7 cm, Width: 118.6 cm, Depth: .3 cm. Tassel opf approx. 13 cm each adorn each corner. Thread count: Warp -- 4 ends/cm, Weft -- 9 ends/cm. Excellent condition. Plain weave. Paper tag (handwritten) says "Maiden Shawl, wool Hispanic weave, 38 1/2 x 46"
