Object Description White cotton manta (child's size maiden shawl) with red and blue borders. Warp is commercial, weft is handspun, with borders of indigo blue and aniline red z-spun wool brocade. White panel in center with a black, indigo-decorated border at the top and bottom, separated from white panel by a red band with three wavy white lines. A raised black ridge separates the black and the red panels. Side selvages are overstitched with black and brown wool. the top and bottom have been sewn in and overstitched, creating a raised ridge. Length: 60 cm, Width: 64 cm, Depth, .3 cm. Thread count: 7 ends.cm warp, 5.5 ends/cm weft. Some small stains and one small hole in white panel.
