Object Description
Coal Mine Mesa rug. Raised outline technique. A central column of stacked connecting diamonds and hourglass figures in vertical beading lines of alternating gold and white stitches bordered on each side by brown and white beaded chevrons; two side columns of brown and white vertical beading bordered each side by white stacked chevrons which connect to the side borders of red and black beading in a vertical zigzag and to plain white band across top and bottom. Raised outline trim. Border: black band at top and bottom only. Warp: white natural handspun wool; Wefts: white natural handspun wool, black natural handspun wool augmented, brown, gold, and red natural handspun wool aniline dyed. Selvages: weft wrapped around outer warp at sides, 2-ply gray cords added in at top [see Object Description text entry for extended description]
