Object Description Chinle rug. Six bands of two stripes of connected white and brown lozenges off-set to create a diagonal checkerboard motif, separated by seven bands of light brown with a stripe of brown, tan and white alternating lines in center. Warp: white natural handspun wool; wefts: white natural handspun wool, brown gray - natural handspun blacks and white carded together, light brown, yellow-tan, tan natural handspun wool, vegetal dyed. Selvages: one 2-ply light brown ply and rust ply cord and one 2-ply brown cord added in on one side, 2-ply tan and 2-ply brown cords added in other side; 2-ply light brown cords added in top and bottom. Warp direction 107 x weft direction 62 x depth .8 cm, plus 4 cm tassels all four corners. Paper tag, written in pencil: "Vegetal Chinle [see Object Description text entry for extended description]
