Object Description
Pictorial rug, background field of gray and dark gray checkerboard of eighteen squares, each with a farm animal: two white dogs with brown spots, two brown birds (turkeys?), two white rabbits with black ears, two red cows with white heads and legs, two white ducks, two orange pigs; and in the center squares are a yellow cat, orange-tan goat, brown horse, white sheep with black face and legs, black donkey, and a yellow hen with a chick. Black border around all four edges. Warp: white wool; wefts: gray, black, white, browns, deep red, orange, yellow, gold commercially processed and aniline dyed wool. Selvages: sides, weft wrapped around outer warp; top and bottom 4-ply black cords added in.
Warp direction 97 x weft direction 62.5 x depth .3 cm, plus 11 cm tassels at each corner.
