Object Description
Twill saddle pad, shaped to fit under saddle with notch at one end and protrusion at other. Made by Sarah Winney in 1959. Bands, about 4 cm high, of brown and white regular twill, stacked stitches of brown and white with interlocking diagonal pattern where the color shifts from brown to white. All around outer edge a gray roll, 3.5 cm in diameter, wrapped with alternation blocks of white and black wool. Warp: white wool; wefts: white wool, brown aniline dyed wool. Warp direction 81 x weft direction 79 x depth .4 cm with 3.5 cm edge roll.
