Object Description
Black wool manta with diamond twill borders and embroidered motifs. Woven of black s-spun 2-ply and overcast red s-spun 3 ply wool in twill and diamond twill patterns. Very typical black manta weave with diamond border at the top and bottom separated from weave area by raised ridge areas. Raised ridge area consists of three units immediately near diamond gap, then another three. Near each side is an embroidered flower with very very very dark overcast red petals with three black leaves. On the edge there is a raised undulating ridge consisting of two rows of yarn with the interior having a dark reddish overcast color. This ridge also separates the diamond twill pattern from the plain twill center panel. Top and bottom selvages have been woven over thicker cords at edge.
