Object Description
Manta in twill weave and diamond pattern black s-spun wool and indigo z-spun single-ply wool, with red and green s-spun 3-ply wool embellishment. Center panel in black twill weave. Top and bottom border of indigo diamond weave, separated from center panel by ridge of indigo and green wool, also red wool nearer edges. Red and green embroidery partially up side seams, top and bottom. Side selvage is stitched with black wool. Top and bottom selvages are rolled and stitched with indigo wool to create a triple ridge. Tassels of red, green and indigo at each corner of indigo border. Length: 94 cm; Width: 109 cm; Depth: .4 cm; Tassles: 7 cm. Thread count: Warp -- 12 ends/cm; Weft -- 8 ends/cm. Excellent condition. One or two very small holes. Paper tag: "38-98-10/13066" Green paper tag: "Photo Dec". Additional description under Conservation.
