Manta, black wool with embroidered blue borders
Descriptions
Object Description
Manta in black wool twill weave with embroidered indigo borders. Warp and weft of brownish-black single ply wool, embroidered of dark blue coarse single ply wool, side originally joined by red wool. Embroidery done in twill style pattern. Inner edge of indigo border is a row of five flowers evenly spaced across width of manta. Narrow indigo border also embroidered up the side selvages. Red yarn used to attach manta at left side and above the left shoulder. Side selvages are wrapped. Top and bottom selvages are blanket stitched. Top selvage is also wrapped in indigo yarn. Length: 73.7 cm; Width: 51.3 cm (folded); Depth: .3 cm. Thread count: Warp -- 11 ends/cm; Weft -- 10 ends/cm. Good condition. Some disintegration of bottom edge. One hole in twill portion.
