Object Description
Manta woven on treadle loom. Commercial 4-ply s-spun black wool. The center panel is a diagonal twill weave and the border panels a basket weave.The borders are connected to the center panel with a raised stitched edge. Side selvages are left as woven and top and bottom selvages have been folded over and machine-stitched. Length: 114.5 cm, Width: 137 cm, Depth: .2 cm. Thread Count: 9ends/cm warp, 8 ends/cm weft. Overall this manta is in very good condition, though there is some evidence of fraying, possibly insect damage, near one end.
Paper tag written in pencil: " Pueblo style dress, Hispanic weave, 45x 53 1/2"
